The cornerstone of Anthony Performance Horses is communication. Communicating with horses allows us to teach others how to build better relationships with their horses. In other words, we teach people how to "speak the horse's language."
Since the founding of Anthony Performance Horses in Watseka, Illinois, in 2014, it's been our mission to provide a secure and welcoming environment for horses and their owners — and we've done just that. From starting young horses to retraining more mature horses for a second career, we make sure the care and attention we provide in our horse training is a cut above the rest.
David Anthony's interest in horses began at a young age. When he was a boy, he saw a pinto trotting down a sandy country road in his hometown of Pembroke, Illinois. He didn't see the owner, so he took the horse home and cared for her over the summer. When the owner returned from Chicago in the fall, he rewarded David for taking care of the pinto by giving him a grey pony named Smokey. From there, David's interest in horses grew even more. As a teenager, he started out as a stable boy at a local ranch, cleaning stalls and feeding horses. Very soon, he began competing in rodeos, relay races, and bareback bronc riding. That's when he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life working with horses.
After graduating from high school, David joined the United States Army, started a family, and earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Administration and Management Studies. Never forgetting his passion for horses, he joined every equine activity that the Army offered, from the military rodeo team to serving as the proponent manager for all mounted units of the Army.
